The Easter Vigil at St. Mary & St. Andrew in Ellenville was wonderful. Again, the manner the Novus Ordo was meant to be celebrated. The schola was amazing and truly lifted the soul to heaven. The Mass was all in Latin and Gregorian Chant other than where absolutely necessary, English, such as with the common prayers and readings. As usual Fr. Thomas gave an excellent and well thought out sermon which focused on the salvific nature of the death and resurrection of Jesus, going into detail about exactly what Jesus was doing and where He went during that time between death and resurrection. Really an inspiring sermon which served to reinforce our faith and enhance our knowledge. Here are two images from tonight. One is the sanctuary a few seconds before the elevation of the Eucharist when we vocally acknowledge our unworthiness and ask Jesus to heal us by His Word, and the other image is the high altar right after Mass. The Novus Ordo altar was thankfully removed permanently some time ago, and all Masses are offered ‘ad orientum’ facing the East.
