My wife and I went for a ride yesterday up to Sumter, SC. Along the way, I spotted this chimney standing alone in a field. I got to thinking about the house that was attached to it at one point. The lives that spent time watching the fire it once held, and wondered why the chimney was left after all this time. You could tell it had been awhile since the house was removed, what caused the house to be taken out, fire? A friend I had for a short time has recently died in a car accident and this chimney made me sad to think of all we do in our lives and how quickly it can end, will anyone remember us? What will they remember? Will anyone remember this house if it weren't for the chimney?
