Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the Passover must be killed. And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the Passover, that we may eat. And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare? And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in. And ye shall say unto the good man of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guest chamber, where I shall eat the Passover with my disciples? And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready. And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the Passover. Luke 22: 7-13
Today at sundown begins Passover. 2,022 years ago our Lord began his long and anguish trip to the cross at sundown on the first day of Passover. He started it with a feast. A celebration of liberation. (Psalm 41:1-13; Mark 14:12-21; Luke 22:7-13; John 13:18-30) Then he went to the garden of Gethsemane with his disciples to pray. (Matthew 26: 36-46; Mark 14:32-42; Luke 22:39-46) While they were there Yeshua was betrayed by Judas and was arrested (Matthew 26: 47-56; Mark 14:43-52; Luke 22:47-53; John 18:1-14) Yeshua was brought before Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders had assembled. (Matthew 26: 57-68; Isaiah 53:1-8; Mark 14:53-65; John 18:19-24) The Sanhedrin ordered Yeshua to be taken before Pilate to be executed under Roman law. (Matthew 27: 11-14; Luke 23: 1-6; John 18: 28-40) All of this happened before the sun rose on the first day of Passover. Pilate learning Yeshua was a from Galilee ordered Yeshua be taken to Herod to be punished under Hebrew law. (Luke 23: 7-12) Herod sends Yeshua back to Pilate and the crowd chooses Barabbas (Matthew 27:15-23; Mark 15:6-11; Luke 23: 18-25) The Roman soldiers mocked Yeshua (Isaiah 50:4-11; Matthew 27: 27-31; Mark 15:16-20; Luke 22:63-65; John 19:1-15) Then Yeshua was crucified died on the cross and was buried before sundown and the beginning of the sabbath (Psalm 69:1-36; Matthew 27: 32-66; Mark 15:21-32; Mark 15:42-47; Luke 23:26-43; Luke 23:50-56; John 19:16-27; John 19:38-42)
