Looking at the numbers of reactions, comments, and shares on just this past week's posts are enough to tell me something. When I go "on the attack", or dwell on a negative topic, the numbers go up. If I use humour, they drop. Yes, we've got to remain relentless, and we can never quit. BUT, you've got to keep a natural, harmonious balance. Living in the country makes that easier for me, when I sit outside and watch the animals at play. When the hogwash THEY spew from everywhere starts to drag me down, I go "walkabout". There's humour in everything, if you just look for it. The trick is to seek it, not wait for it. If you're reaching for the stars, it's really hard to come up with a handful of mud. Should you become fixated on current events, you can become obsessed to the same extent as them, and act like them from the opposite view. That's very toxic to your happiness and well-being. Keeping a healthy balance these days is extremely hard, but not impossible. Think about Napoleon Hill's analogy. Remember bumper cars? They were powered by a pole on the back, connected to a leaf spring that contacted "hot" chicken wire. If you're always in contact with other positive influences and people, you get power. When you're not, you don't. It's just that simple. I just happen to have a plethora of squirrels, raccoons, rabbits, hummingbirds, wild turkey, deer, and opossums running around as well as two rescue dogs. I also have my wife and son around, so life's never dull. We laugh FAR more than most. We don't hear sirens unless it's a neighbor. We rarely hear cars from strangers to the point we recognize them by the sound of their exhaust systems. Our balance may be easier to maintain, but you can find yours, too, if you seek it out. Armed with the truth, clarity of mind, and the proper balance, you too become a formidable weapon in the war against tyranny, oppression, and authoritarianism. Meanwhile, the bet's to me, and Percy is cheating, again. ≤≤sigh≥≥.....
