In 1672 the greatest republican president of the United Republic of the Netherlands Johan de Witt and his brother Cornelius who founded the Dutch navy - which became the number one naval power in the world - were murdered. In that year 1672 Csar Peter the Great was born and in 1697 Peter the Great visited the Dutch Republic to learn how to build Navy vessels.
