Honda Tadakatsu, one of the greatest Samurai of all time, wore a unique black armour crossed by a Buddhist rosary and a kabuto with deer horn. Unlike the common Sengoku-era armour, Tadakatsu's armour was not made of steel plates but lacquered raw leather. Made of this material, he achieved a Yoroi as protective as those his colleagues used but much lighter. His armor was supposed to not last long with Japan’s wet weather conditions but incredibly not only survived all the battles this warrior waged during the Sengoku period but also came to our days. Currently preserved in a private collection in Okazaki City, in Aichi Prefecture (picture on the right is a replica)
