Our heavenly Father DOES NOT punish anybody. He simply WARNS us of the consequences of our actions or the lack there of. We have absolutely no idea how old the earth is because we do not know how long Adam and Eve lived in the garden prior to their fall into sin. Before the fall, Adam and Eve did not age at all. It was only after they had committed the first sin that they began to age just as our heavenly Father warned them they would. Through out the Old and New Testaments he keeps warning us about our disobedience and the consequences our disobedience brings.In today's churches it is more about making excuses for our sins and condoning our sin than it is anything else. It has turned into a feel good religion that rewards sin. The message has changed from with sin comes sickness and death to all have sinned and come short of the glory of god so God has made an exception so you can continue living in your sin. Because God created you with your sin nature God understands and will not punish you for your sins. Only sinners will be punished for their sins and not you his saints. Our heavenly Father never changes. He is the same as he was in the garden with Adam and Eve as he was throughout the Old Testament and yes is the same in the New Testament Church.The message is also the same, "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." and if you don't, "I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me."
