On this day: 32 years ago, Captain Robert Swain, from the 706th Fighter Squadron (AFRES), shot down an Iraqi MBB Bo105 helicopter to score A-10’s first air-to-air victory (February 6, 1991). Captain Robert achieved the kill by hosing the Iraqi chopper with a long, clean burst from the A-10’s internal GAU-8/A 30 mm cannon.
