February 3, 1959, when "the music died". The plane crash that had killed Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, The Big Bopper (J. P. Richardson) , and others after their performance at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake Iowa.
The crash site, which in 1959 was an open field, is located five miles north of Clear Lake on Gull Avenue, just north of the intersection of Gull and 320th Street.
Today, why not sit back and spin some Buddy Holly / Crickets 45's, The Big Bopper, and Richie Valens.
