Basic Sourdough Starter3/4 cups plus 2 Tablespoons all purpose unbleached flour, or whole wheat flour1/2 cup luke warm waterPlace the flour and water into a glass or plastic container. Make sure it is at least a 2 quart container. Stir well and cover with plastic wrap and place in an area with an even room temperature. (On top of the refrigerator is a perfect place)Each day for the next 4 days stir the starter and add 3/4 cups plus 2 Tablespoons flour and the 1/2 cup water.Always stir before adding to the starter the next day. By the third day your starter should look bubbly and have a soured smell. By the 5th day it should be ready to use in your favorite sourdough bread or other sourdough recipes.
