I can't make the analogies stop. I've tried. I'm sure it'll fade eventually, but not yet. Watching "Baghdad Joe" Wednesday reminded me of what real pain was. Until now, I could only remember my foot slipping off the pedal of my ten speed racing my brother. Two things happened immediately. Certain treasured parts of my anatomy came in forced contact with the bar, while simultaneously my foot shot down in the front of the pedal, where it was flipped back allowing the top of my foot to be ground down like raw hamburger. I'm willing to admit there were more times than the first, because I kept getting back on the bicycle after recovering eventually.
Now, in my old age, I've learned not to get back around things that cause that much pain. Instead of watching the SOTU speech on March First, I've decided I'd rather kick a grizzly in HIS treasured parts. Better than being forced to remember Pelosi tearing up Trump's "courtesy" copy. Better than allowing that to put me back on my bicycle.
