The Cairo Curmudgeon

Well, I just checked off another box in the complexities of life events list. Now, though , I've got an even bigger amount of questions! For a few years, I'd occasionally tear up at certain times, but not like I currently do. Starting last year, it became more frequent, and now, a year later, it's doubled. While the National Anthem, God Bless America, Battle Hymn of The Republic, Anchor's Aweigh, and the Navy Hymn were sure bets, now it happens when watching Little House On The Prairie, Quincy, Walker-Texas Ranger, Gunsmoke, and the like. I honestly don't know where it comes from. Do I just miss those days when men were men, and women were women? Do I miss the law and order? Do I miss adults that were truthful and honest? Do I miss a nation actively pursuing what they eventually became before "the fall"? Do I just hate how our generation squandered the precious gifts we were given? I can't single out anything, but maybe it's a compilation of all of the above.
When a Senator gives a speech on the floor that was very moving against abolishing the filibuster rule that turned out to be written verbatim from the Majority Leader who's now pushing for abolishing it, you know hypocrites are an acceptable species. In my younger days, we simply called them liars. That's back when politicians were working FOR us, not against us. Yet, today we're stuck with pompous asses like Clyburn, who's touting that our elections need to be reformed because of racism. No, the laws on the books need to be enforced to the fullest extent of the law, not federalized. The divisions being created right now by politicians WILL be addressed, sooner or later. MSM WILL be held responsible for their complicity. Companies and banks who cooperated with the oppressions of people's Constitutional rights WILL bear the consequences of their malevolent behaviours. Yes, the pendulum swings as the pendulum does. It's time to break the fingers of those who are intent on stopping/slowing it down.
Now is not the time to throw in the towel. The wisdom of the years we've persevered always revealed that it's darkest before the dawn. How many banks turned down Walt Disney over his "crazy idea" for a theme park? Hundreds. Remember when Washington's troops were decimated and surrendered at Valley Forge? Yeah, me neither. Remember the time we had to take our country back from Hitler after he conquered us? Nahhh, me neither. When you look at all the fallen US military in all the cemeteries around the world, do you really think there were that many brainwashed kool-aid drinkers instead of heroes and patriots? Maybe the tears in our eyes need to form earlier, or we've got to get better at educating our younger generations. We can, we will, because we MUST. There's NO way we can leave this bastardized society as it is for our future generations. We ALL know it.
I think the tears might serve a very useful purpose, after all.
