We are all looking at another New Year facing a plethora of unknowns! I, for one, refuse to be fed a litany of half-truths, inuendoes, and outright lies. I mourn the passing of the hard working journalist who daily sought out stories, providing the unvarnished Who, What, When, Where, Why. You remember when most sources were named and little was "off the record". So often today the sensationalism overtakes the important.When was the last time you heard anything about Syria? Do you know what is happening in the South China Sea? Are you aware of the draconian measures being taken in Australia and Austria? Have you heard about the wildfires in Colorado or Kansas? Have you sought answers to the unemployment riddle where the jobless claims are the lowest since 1969, employers are begging for workers and yet "people" can't find work?We have allowed ourselves to be played with screaming headlines and ginned up crises. Stop allowing yourself to be distracted by the shiny baubles. It is time to be educated, to be PROACTIVE and not REACTIVE. It is past time to speak up and demand that government be "Of the people, By the people, and For the people" not some limited, elite subset of people!
