As Joan Rivers used to say, " can we tawk " ? Honestly? Truthfully? If we can't, just scroll on. This is fare for adults. Every single one of us has discovered in varying degrees, depending on our age, exactly how much effort we've expended in our lives maintaining our "facade". For whatever reason, we grow up hiding things and covering up our perceived shortcomings. The older we get, the more time and effort it takes to remember who you told what, and why you did it. White lies become major issues later on. Even Mark Twain is purported to have said "if you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything". Some people understand the concept of one single pane of glass compared to four when looked at psychologically. There's the you you think you are, the you you really are, the you you think others see, and the you others really see. The goal eventually becomes changing it to one single pane. For others, it's faster and cheaper to keep changing little panes, and they actually increase the number. They call it "compartmentalism", and they forget about them unless a compartment is discovered or broken. Yeah, there's a method to my madness, bear with me ! Have you ever wondered how much taxpayer money has been wasted maintaining the "facades" of politics? The requisite increase in size of government just to maintain the hidden compartments and broken panes? What about career politicians and their legacies? We all know that Democrats and Republicans are but two faces on the same coin, and working FOR the people vanished long ago in lieu of working for themselves. Why do you think they're all in lockstep by party or by tenure? Everybody knows the "dirt" on each other, and it's leveraged every time the balance is shifted one way or another. Remember when the 22nd. amendment was ratified to limit the President to two terms? It was ostensibly due to prevent one person from gaining too much power. My question is simple : Why didn't they include ALL CONgressional seats for the same reason? Picture a government expending ALL their efforts on behalf of We The People instead of time sharing in hiding past activities and threatening people who won't "play nice" and kowtow to their mandates! We could solve every situation we're facing right now without breaking a sweat. It doesn't take over 2,200 pages in a BBB bill to spend enormous amounts of money on political pork projects. It takes that many pages to "hide the sausage", which is their true agenda. Obfuscation by legalese confirms our suspicions. Break it down, one item at a time, and maintain full transparency. Same thing we learn to do as we get older and strive for one pane instead of multiples. Instead of leaking selected snippets of testimony in committees, make everything open and transparent. Let the chips fall where they may. WHEN they're caught, they'll be judged by those of us who've made mistakes ourselves, and take that into consideration. Term limited politicians who have to return to working society with limited benefits for limited times will behave better than those who ignore our wishes. Kinda like accumulation of "doo-dads" most of our life only to learn they've got to be dusted later in life and clutter our surroundings. Simplification is the "buzzword" for us aging folk now. Less effort, more time for the things that REALLY count, ironically, which are the things money can't buy. The process starts with us. We can't expect others to do what we're not willing to do for ourselves. LET'S TAWK !
