Christmas traditions, we all have them! My family has Midwestern roots, my husband's family has North Carolina roots. Growing up the traditional Christmas Eve supper was oyster stew and fried oysters. I can remember my Mother going in to order them at the beginning of December, after all, fresh oysters in Illinois in December 60 years ago were not that common! Jim's family only ate steamed oysters wallered in a hot vinegar sauce. Our first Christmas together we discovered that neither one of us cared for oysters. I let the family tradition go....Today, I was on the phone with my sister, she finally admitted that she didn't like oysters and has decided she will not be making them this year! Maybe just remembering is enough! Go ahead and talk about important as well as mundane things, don't be afraid! Oh by the way, please do NOT serve me oysters!
