Here are a few interesting facts about the giraffes' sleeping/resting habits:1. Giraffes don't need much sleep -- only about 30 minutes a day for an adult.2. They split their sleep to naps of approximately 5 minutes at a time and they usually can't reach a deep sleep.3. Sometimes the young ones will turn their neck and rest their head on their back as if it's a pillow, while adults can -- literally -- sleep standing up.4. When sitting down, they do so by folding their legs underneath their bodies.5. Although they are fast runners, it takes them a while to stand up, which makes them vulnerable to predators. That's the main reason for their short naps. Here's a baby giraffe enjoying a little rest with his oxpecker friend. Taken in Masai Mara, Kenya, 12/2020.
