My brain is starting to cramp AGAIN! This condition occurs EVERY time I attempt to figure out school funding in my little county. The school system has 3,147 students in 10 schools and is ranked 231 out of 305 districts in the state based on academic performance and graduation rates. The spending per student is roughly $1,500 HIGHER than the state average. Based on these rough numbers, I must ask, WHY are we considering building a new $48 MILLION middle school when the county population is DROPPING 1% per year? I think it is based on flawed expectations. Just because we have a new building it does not mean that Susie will magically improve her test scores. It is past time that the community stand up to the students and educational elitists. Children will rise to YOUR EXPECTATIONS, demand they study and learn!
