Yes, I've read the First Amendment many, many times. I'm really torn right now, because I personally think 90% of the problems in our nation right now are being caused by the sensationalism created by the media. I personally don't have catv or satellite, because I refuse to pay good money to have my intelligence insulted by that drivel. Since the advent of 24hr. news channels, people have been taking sides more than ever before. The problem lies in their greed for power, money, and fame. They've got to fill every second of every day, and if there's no news, they'll make some. Since they're in competition with the upstarts, they've kicked things into high gear to maintain or achieve a high market share, which earns them more money. Once power and money enter the equation, however, so does the inevitable quest for more no matter the cost or principles that brought them to the dance. Politics became a natural bedfellow because they've got money to spend and networks are extremely eager to collect it. Once the "equal time" requirement was rescinded, it became open season for the media carpetbaggers. "Fair and balanced" became ancient history overnight.
Recent events have borne out this truth. One only need be reminded of Ferguson, Nick Sandmann, George Floyd, Kyle Rittenhouse, or David Hogg to bring up just a few. The media constantly beats the drums of division in order to gin up more profits at our expense. The main worries now are no longer the cigar smoke filled back rooms of politicos, it's more the production meetings and sales figures of the media. The huge gala thrown by Hillary wasn't the first for media talking heads, but Joe inviting social media moguls to the White House has had a chilling effect on our rights bestowed upon us by our Creator. When you discover the enormous contributions made by those moguls to political parties, the questions become moot. There's absolutely no doubt taxpayer money is being spent to advocate for the agenda desired by the present administration, and that's quite possibly not the first. Now, however, things are taking on a whole new evil that MUST be addressed. There's GOT to be a cap on this sensationalism and rules to prevent it before our whole society is permanently dismantled.
Having the likes of Jessie Jackson or Al Sharpton sitting with families in the courtroom is bad enough, but even entertaining the thought of anybody famous for the other perspective sitting with the other family would create howling backlash. Now, MSNBC was caught following the jury bus to the hotel to photograph the jurors in the Rittenhouse trial, ostensibly to gas light them to further more news. That's putting people's lives at stake even more than those who've had brickloads delivered in that area. It wouldn't surprise me whatsoever to discover they were complicit in that, too. On top of that, I read an article in the Anson Record where NBC is sending a special correspondent here to cover all things election oriented until the midterms. We're a small county who's lost 10% population since the last election, and you can bet they're going to stir up trouble in our normally peaceful county. Let this serve as public notice that I forbid them to set foot on my property. There's absolutely NOTHING positive about this, it's due to declining Democratic votes here in a predominately Democratic county.
The evidence is clear. The problems are defined. The solution awaits for those who can see. Can you, or is it only me?
