It becomes clearer and clearer by the day. We all have different reactions to authority, as well as those who purport themselves to be that. First off, there's an obvious distinction between those of us who live rural independent lifestyles, who've learned how to cope with problems and depend on ourselves, and those who live in the cities. The city dwellers live with authority on a constant basis, and become accustomed to rules, regulations, committees, associations, and the lot. It's not too far of a reach to comprehend they can't understand life without it, and expect it's like that everywhere. The rub comes in when the authoritarians decide a "one size fits all" policy works all over this entire nation. Those of us who've learned the only helping hand is at the end of our own arm resent somebody who doesn't understand us yet thinks they do. When we see a pompous buffoon in a suit and tie with polished shoes in the country on a baby kissing mission, we just kick clods and giggle. We do concentrate on who's acting as his guide, though. Ain't going to be trusting on that feller no more ! If the guy shows up by himself in jeans, open necked shirt, and dirty boots, we probably already know him. Then, there's the "tweeners". Those who show up in a brand new flat billed hat, pressed open necked shirt, and blue jeans with creases in them. They've got oiled boots, but no dirt anywhere on them. He's usually mopping his face with a new hankie, and talking funny. He needs a guide, too, or he'd get so lost he couldn't even figure out which way is up. That guide is now in question, too. Around here, politics are quite simple. Everybody knows somebody's Momma or a teacher who remembers them. If not, it's probably one of them self appointed authoritarian types who only know how things are in his backyard. Given enough time, everybody can understand what I'm saying. That's why my posts aren't known for their brevity. I want to be clearly understood for my opinion, which isn't up for translation by some legalese tyrant trying to manipulate my words. If I'm incorrect, and somebody can show me how I'm incorrect, I will be the first to admit it. Them lawyer types just state something 180* out of what they said yesterday, and start calling you names if you point it out, exactly like a two year old. Then, they act like you're the problem. The biggest difference between us and the authoritarians is that we know everybody can make mistakes, and we're the first ones to help somebody through them. They automatically blame others for the mistakes, and decry them to the world as a bad example to reinforce their power. Yes, we resent their arrogance. Yes, we resent their ignorance and their inability to even recognize it. Authoritarians support democracies, not republics. They insist on mandates, orders, fear, and persecution to maintain their stations in life. It's so clearly obvious to the most casual observer, though. As long as this dichotomy exists, however, there will never be a united nation here anymore. The strength of our nation came from our differences, not clones. That's why our Constitution spelled out the powers delegated to the government, and the rest were ostensibly to be retained by the states and the people. There's strength in diversity in a nation as big as ours. Cab drivers in NYC can't plow a field on a tractor anymore than a farmer can drive a taxi in NYC. A rancher can't run a ship, and a Captain can't dock a cow. So, how can one size fit all? We need to end authoritarianism, and it's subsequent oppression in favor of knowledge. Sooner rather than later.
