Have you ever heard of Mack Lee (1835 - 1932)? Mack was born into slavery, but his master who was Robert E. Lee immediately released him and made him a paid servant versus a owned slave. General Lee did this to all who worked for him. In 1881, Mack became an ordained Baptist Minister, who was led into Christianity by General Lee. Mack started and built 13 Christian Churches all across the south. Mack would have a hand in leading thousands into a belief in God and Christianity. In 1870, General Lee passed away leaving Mack about $400 USD, which is about 20,000 dollars in today’s money. Mack would use the money for a higher education. He wrote an Autobiography, and quoted within his writing was “The greatest man I ever met, was my great friend and Father Figure, General Robert E. Lee”.
