I DON'T UNDERSTAND, why is all this musical history being destroyed? Goldband Records had produced Cleveland Crochet, Mickey Gilley, Jimmy C. Newman, even Freddie Fender. Dolly Parton cut her first single there in 1959.Meteor Records also had some fine talent.. Elmore James, Jess Hooper, Charlie Feathers, Rufus Thomas, Little Milton.. and it too has not been preserved. Neither has Hi-Q Records. Even the KING Records building in Cincinnati, last I knew, was sitting empty with nothing more than a history marker out at the street.STAX Records.. last time I was in Memphis.. is nothing more than a vacant lot with a historical marker across the street. Why is our musical heritage not being preserved! This is a sad state of affairs.
