Well, today is the day! I had planned to share my thoughts on school boards requesting FBI protections against parents but instead, today is the day that I am washing "the quilt"! It took me almost a year to create this quilt, one hand stitch at a time, block after block. The quilt is huge (and heavy), larger than a king size, too large for my washing machine! Sure, I could take it to a laundromat, but there aren't any that I really want to step foot in within 20 miles of my home. I could take it to the dry cleaners but there are not any within 20 miles of home. I could wash it in my bathtub but guess what, we only have a shower. My solution is "old school", it will be slung over my line, I will attack it with a scrub brush, hose and soap. It will be left to dry, brought in tonight and re-hung in the morning. Many of you will think I am crazy and should just move to town for convenience' sake. Not me, the quilt was made with love and washing it is just another act of love.
