CLASS: AKIZUKI

They were conceived to accompany the Hy ūga and Izumo class ships, also supporting the Kong ō and Atago class.

These provide defense against surface, air and underwater threats, but with greater specialization in the Anti-Air War. The hull structure is based on the Takanami class. Many small improvements were made, such as cleaner lines to reduce radar signature and torpedo decoys; but major changes can be summed up in engines, sensors, sonar and the most powerful ATECS battle management system called AEGIS Japanese.
