An Ohio Republican lawmaker has been KICKED OFF the House Health Committee by Republican Leadership for Advocating for Medical Freedom.
• Rep. Gross, the bill sponsor for HB 248, a strong medical freedom bill, has been removed for bringing forth a ‘discharge petition.’
• She was telephoned by Ohio House Speaker Bob Cupp and told, the entire Republican leadership team agreed, she should be removed.
• Cupp was contacted by the press for comment and stated, “I do not comment on internal caucus communications.’
• Gross is the main sponsor of the “Vaccine Choice and Anti-Discrimination Act.”
• Last month, Cupp and “the House Majority Leadership” issued a statement indicating they were going to “pause” House Bill 248 and work on the topic.
• Gross said she was prompted to act when President Joe Biden issued an executive order requiring employers of more than 100 people to mandate COVID-19 vaccine for their workers.
Now, here is my question. House leadership and every other member of the Ohio House, votes on the ‘rules of the Ohio House’ every two years. Every one of these republican members of the leadership team voted yes on the rules and the rules clearly state that a discharge petition is a valid process which can be used and is part of the rules of the Ohio House. So why are they removing a member for following the very rules that they voted on and agreed to follow? If a discharge petition is so bad, why did they not take it out of the rules last January when they voted to put the current House Rules into place?
In fact, a discharge petition has been a part of House Rules for over 20 or more years. So, in summary, it appears the republican leadership team removed a republican member of the Ohio House for following the very rules that this republican leadership team voted for and approved.
This exact same thing happened to me 4 years ago. The then republican Ohio House Speaker punished me by taking my staff away and told all other House staff members they could not work with me and were not to speak to me if I called or visited their offices. Additionally, the then House Speaker told me, if I kept it up, he would take my office away from me as well, and I would have to park at the meters on the street, if I could find a parking space. How am I supposed to represent my district with those restrictions?
This is the brute force behavior I have come to expect from the Super Majority Republican Ohio House. While you may think you live in a representative republic, in Ohio government, I live in a political dictatorship.

Click, call and tell them, sign the discharge for HB248, no excuses. Be respectful, be charitable, but call, and call daily.
