USS Lyndon B. Johnson 🇺🇸The third and final destroyer of the Zumwalt class began its sea trials on August 27 off the coasts of Maine, United States. These extremely expensive ships have been subject to numerous criticisms, although the US Navy considers them more a technological demonstrator than a frontline combat ship. There are, however, plans to convert them into hypersonic missile platforms. The C-HGB or Common Hypersonic Glide Body will be able to reach speeds of up to five times sound (Mach 5), and would offer a remarkable increase to the offensive potential of these ships that, following the failure of the Advanced Gun System, have seen alibi its ability.
