Hmmm... I'd be cool with my kid doing that, but as an atheist, I'd suggest he be permitted to omit the 'under god' phrase as it wasn't part of the original pledge. Of course, as a staunch anti-communist, I'd be unlikely to allow him to go to public school in any event.
