I rescued and raised a Red Tail Hawk from this size years back. Him and brother blown from their nest in a storm and run over by a farmer cutting hay. I called him Merlin and raised him to full size. I thought him defenseless as a fledgling and reached for him in the field. But he struck out with his talons and pierced my hand anyway.
