Read the fine print! This applies to everything from ads on TV to your bills etc. As an example, today I read an article explaining how co-ops in NC are "Boosting Reliability Through Grid Management", employing a 24 hour Distribution Operator service. Are your eyes crossed yet? One of the strategies, stated in a footnote at the bottom of the page, is "conservation voltage reduction" which, according to them, "is a way to use power efficiently by reducing voltage during system peaks". Boy, that sounds great doesn't it? See, we are being told what they will do, but do you know what it means? Hope you like brownouts which can significantly reduce the life of electronics and compressors i.e. air conditioners, refrigerators, sound systems and so forth. Yes, a whole lot of "facts and figures" are being thrown around today, but don't forget to read the fine print and take the time to understand!
