Sushi is a Japanese food consisting of cooked vinegared rice combined with other ingredients, usually raw fish or other seafood. There are various kinds of sushi, which don't include raw fish. Vegetables, cooked seafood, and various other ingredients can be combined in sushi. While there are several types of Sushi, such as Narezushi and Oshizushi, the most common is the Nigirizushi that appeared in the Edo era. The sushi in the picture are akami (leaner meat from the sides of the maguro, or tuna) and ebi (shrimp).
