ROCKOLLECTIONS: MONTEREY POP AT 54 PT.2Again, it’s always hard to believe these things, but it’s the 54th Anniversary of the Monterey Pop Festival, and regarded as the beginning of the Summer Of Love.The total attendance for the Festival varies widely, but no more than 100,00 for the whole weekend.And oh those tickets- from $3.00 to 4.50, lol!Without question, Monterey sparked access to acts who changed not only the Music, but the Culture as well.Janis Joplin, along with Jimi Hendrix and Otis Redding, came before an unsuspecting audience and blew everyone away.I’ll revisit a few of the Bands I played in the first half and of course I few I didn’tMonterey Pop was the model for all future festivals- and in terms of pure innocence none came close.And it was the first Rock & Roll Benefit Concert.I will continue this next week!Here are the links to Some Extraordinary Live Performances , at Mike Pell Rockollections:At Podomatic:https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/radiopell/episodes/2021-06-23T13_07_15-07_00At Soundcloud:https://soundcloud.com/radiopell/rockollections-monterey-pop-at-54-pt2Mike
