Life can be really "funny", especially when you still have certain memories and compare them to today. From the time our son was of age to attend kindergarten, EVERYBODY saw fit to give us their opinions about enrolling him in school that was 20-25 miles away one way that required him to be up before dawn to catch the school bus that often slid off the roads in winter or got blown in a ditch in summer. Since he was a "live wire", they'd want to drug him down to a vegetative state, but they allowed that's fine because he would be interacting with other children. My wife and I couldn't figure out how a child who's drugged down, gone for twelve hours/day, and had two meals away from home could be interacting with anything. The local "know-it-alls" really kept the pressure on, and we couldn't figure it. Finally, we just figured it was the amount of money they were losing from the state and Feds by not having him enrolled. We had a modern school right in our town made from brick, but "consolidation" closed it, and put the elementary and middle schools in one town, and the high school in another. None in our town.
I'm not going to go into the amount of money that state hemorrhaged on the bus fleet, driver's salaries/benefits, maintenance, and fuel. Obviously, that's one of the reasons we moved from there. As we continued to home school our son, we were constantly subjected to everybody else's opinions. The biggest one was "He'll grow up like a turnip without peers". My question today is why those same parents and their children allow their kids to self isolate with computers and technology. Dependence on computers has led to further dependence on A.I., or Artificial Intelligence. The more that transpires, the more even basic human compassion is forgotten or never learned. The parent/child and teacher/student relationships are losing their effectiveness, which appears to be leading them into hedonism and narcissism. I can only imagine where I'd be if I didn't have God to pray to when I'm in "those" situations in life. I guess you'd depend only on yourself, and that makes me shudder when I contemplate following through on things I could have done. Suffice to say I'd be in prison or dead. Probably dead.
Now, in retrospect, I look at the man my son has become compared to the rest of his generation. Turnip? Absolutely not. The rest of his generation? Let's just say I thank God daily that we home-schooled him. His strongest attribute is compassion for others and animals. He'd have never learned that in the indoctrination centers or from his peers. Our nation, perhaps the entire world, needs to contemplate the trajectory our future is taking. Bereft of human compassion and belief in a Supreme Being, Artificial Intelligence will fill the vacuum created by the absence of leadership and morals and integrity. Talk about complete eradication of anyone who doesn't serve a purpose ! Without remorse. Yeah, the 2001:A Space Odyssey scenario. We've got to return to our interpersonal roots and the requisite caring for others, or we will indeed be facing that which we've been warned about by the likes of Stephen Hawking and Steve Jobs. Instead of "digging in" like mules, we need to admit our failures and get on down the road instead of protecting our "pride".
If not, it's not going to be just "global warming" to be worried about, it's going to be Hades on Earth ! THAT'S HOT !
