Uh, the wider pay gap was probably, mostly because state governors ensured many middle class and lower class workers would get laid off during lockdowns, meanwhile select corporations could arbitrarily stay open and keep running like Amazon and Walmart. Of course average worker pay went down when unemployment skyrocketed.
