Y'all remember the "good old days" when we used to identify with somebody on all the old westerns? Paladin, Bonanza, Rifleman, Gunsmoke, Wanted:Dead or Alive, Rawhide, and the like? Have you honestly noticed how you've changed who you now identify with? Happened to me Saturday, watching Gunsmoke. I wasn't Newly, I wasn't Matt, then.........I WAS Doc Adams! You know, the grouchy old buzzard who always told the truth even if he thought it would get him killed? He said what he thought, regardless of his circumstances. That's definitely what I've become, and I'm proud of it. I've earned it, and I claim it. This week is my specialty. It affects me every year the same way, but I 'spect this year will be worse than before. With our liberal socialist media, I'm convinced they'll do ANYTHING to distract the upcoming weekend and the celebration Monday next. So far, the only mention of it is that the State Police are engaging on a seatbelt blitz to carry over through the Memorial Day weekend. That's all. I've been seeing posts on FB pertaining to history about the fallen, and I'm amazed they haven't been labelled "missing context"!
In spite of Joe's guests at the White House tomorrow on the one year anniversary while trials are still in process, I choose to take my time and go into each and every post about fallen heroes. These ARE the TRUE heroes, who paid the ultimate sacrifice with their lives in the protection and defense of our very liberty and freedom. Not some ignorant movie star or sports " legend" that makes millions of dollars and runs their mouth about everything they DON'T know. While people are being "honored and respected" that don't deserve it, I'll personally be reading about those who do. You know the ones. The ones who were paid a pittance to fight for our country. The ones who didn't run their mouths, burn businesses, riot, break the law, defy law enforcement, ad nauseum. The ones who stepped up, and did what was required until their very life was the price. To THEM belong the accolades, and should be celebrated for this entire week by EVERY American. Alas, for most don't even know what it's about other than a three day weekend and parties.
If you've never done it, try it. Read all the posts. Research the total number of war dead throughout history. Research the demand for redress of grievances to the King of England as delineated so eloquently in our Declaration of Independence. Look at all those who fought/died in THAT and every war on our soil AND foreign wars. Then, you might understand why people get upset over statue removals. These people had more patriotism towards what they were fighting for than most can even comprehend today. Until you're ready to go swear an oath, go to training, put on a uniform, and go defend your beliefs and friends up to and including your life, shut your mouth and be grateful. At least learn the meanings of Memorial Day, Veteran's day, and Armed Forces Day and their differences. One of the biggest insults to a veteran is thanking them for their service on Memorial Day, or trying to group them all together in a pitiful attempt to be politically correct about something you have no idea about. Get educated. It's not hard. Just takes some limited research on your part.
I'm glad y'all know what kind of potato you are, and your foodie pictures make you Happy. Remember the price that was paid so you can act the way you do. Then, ask yourself if they'd appreciate their sacrifice to allow you to behave the way you do. Really......ask.
