1972 Navy F-4 Phantom II aircrews engaged in one of the most intense air-to-air battles of the Vietnam War, which resulted in the downing of eight North Vietnamese MiGs. With three kills that day LT Randy Cunningham and LTJG Willie Driscoll reached five total kills, making them the only Navy aces of the war.
