Shoveling excrement against the tide is just too exhausting, so it's time to get real and speak what I feel. After seeing all the pictures of mothers yesterday and continuing today, I checked into something and was astounded to find out that Mother's Day is one of the lowest crime statistics days of the year. I thought that that's got to be due to it occurring on a Sunday, so I went and checked on yesterday's post. That's when it hit me once again. The absolute truth is that we've become a hypocritically narcissistic society because we've lost our moral compass. Yesterday, 50 reactions out of 692 reached, with 2 comments and only 5 shares with a page following of 7,074. I'm not saying you need to believe in the same Supreme Being I do, but I've come to understand that there isn't one for most people today. Without that belief, people will pick their own mentors and heroes, or simply do what they're told. The credibility of their choices is irrelevant. It's based on the here and now and only the moment. Unfortunately, that approach has become our biggest situation today as a people AND a society. I couldn't help but wonder why people behaved better on one day per year instead of every day like their mothers would really want. I couldn't understand people ignoring the purpose of the First Amendment. I teared up when I thought of the pictures of members of MoMO (Mothers of Murdered Offspring) that will never be posted or celebrated. Then the quote from John Adams to the Massachusetts Militia on 11 October 1798 came to mind: " Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious People. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."Please read that again, more slowly. Beginning to see the inklings of a problem here? Starting to understand the reason everybody is just "doing their own thing" in pursuit of their own direction? The skyrocketing increase in drug use today when they find out they were wrong and seek escape? The war on religion being fought everywhere today? The prostitution of religious dogma that allows a drag queen to be certified as a candidate for United Methodist ministry? No, I'm not lying. " Evangelicals " actually voted for the party that perpetrates abortion and infanticide over the conservative values of their teachings. Why? Because the other man talked raw naked truth? No, there's more to it than that. Like a ship at sea without a rudder, people are consuming a lot of fuel in their hurried attempts to reach their undefined destination while doing it completely out of control. Without the means to control their ship, a destination to steer for, and an exact reference to depend on, they'll be out there an extremely long time, run out of fuel, and quit out of desperation. Belief in a time honored and proven Supreme Being is the equipment needed in the world today, not some "theory of the week". It's like asking people when they'll know that they've become successful. Does a bell go off? Do the accolades and tickertape parade begin? How long will people continue to wander in their self imposed wilderness before they're confronted with reality? How much abuse can people suffer upon themselves and others before they find the truth? I'm thinking we're redefining those limits today, and not for the good of all mankind. No, I'm obviously not a preacher. I'm just laying this out there so somebody who needs it will have ears to hear. If it's only one, so mote it be. Truth is truth, and WILL set you free.
