have transitioned to the Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet. This composite photo of the F/A-18C Hornet on the left and the F/A-18E Super Hornet on the right shows the differences between the aircraft to good effect. The aircraft are to scale.
The photo of the F/A-18C "Charlie" Hornet being flown by Blue Angel #5 Lead Solo Lieutenant Ryan Chamberlain was taken during the 2016 Wings Over Houston Airshow held at Ellington Field October 22-23, 2016.
The photo of the F/A-18E "Echo" Super Hornet being flown by Blue Angel #6 Opposing Solo Lieutenant Commander Cary Rickoff was taken in February 2021 during the Blue Angels' winter training at NAF El Centro.
