Sisamnes has been a corrupt royal judge since the time of Cambyses II of Persia. He took a bribe and passed an unjust verdict. The king ordered his arrest and skinning him alive, and his skin to be used to upholster the chair from which he led the trials. His successor was Ottanes, also his son. Every time he conducted trials and hearings he could not help but remember the origin of the skin on the chair and never passed an unjust verdict, nor took bribes.
