Dressed as pirates, University of Sydney students boarded USS Bennington in the early morning when the carrier was visiting Australia in 1957. Unchallenged, the students managed to get to the bridge and sound the general quarters, atomic attack, and chemical attack alarms. The U.S. Navy later claimed it had approved the prank.
