My mom gave me my Southern charm, easy-going personality, and East Coast sass. My dad gave me my Chicago thick skin, Polish humor, and genuine Midwest character. Being California-born made me a tolerant, cynical, hippie, smartass. My abusive marriage blessed me with a resistance to feeling offended and apophenia, the ability to notice connections between things that are seemingly unrelated.Everything in life shapes the person you become. It's up to you, as you get older, to decide what influences you'll allow being present. If you surround yourself with the outrage mobs, it will rub off on you. If you surround yourself with righteous, God-fearing people, it will also rub off on you. But ultimately, you must make the choice.
