CONGRATULATIONS ! Yesterday marked the fourth anniversary of our page. Yes, ours. This wouldn't have worked without y'all, in many ways. With over 2,500 new likes/followers in the past month, I'd like to take a moment on the history of us. This began when a relative of mine started calling me a curmudgeon, because I said things as they were and didn't pull my punches. Since I live in Cairo, N.C., and I'm now over 70, it seems fitting. This was originally advice and a record of thoughts for my son to refer to down the road after I departed. That wouldn't have gotten us anywhere close to where we are today. The comments and experiences of people from all walks of life in over 20 countries I KNOW of have been the highlight ! The open and honest discussions without demeaning or denigrating each other. Even the troll population decreased, especially when the language filter was activated that automatically hides comments that have bad language. Seems they can't talk unless they lace their attacks with profanity. The ones who made it through the language filters are picked up pretty quickly and escorted to the "delete comment and ban" door. For future trolls, let me give you some info. The workshop/woodrack behind me in the picture is NOT a meth lab. Yes, that's MY picture. I'm not even going to repeat the myriad of comments they've so unoriginally stated. I was in the Navy during most of the 70's, and that kinda stuff just don't stick. I am who I am. Yes, I use a lot of squirrels in my post pictures, as I live with a lot of them here in the country and they're actually more fun to be around than most basement dwellers ! I WOULD like to point out the obvious, though. If you had anything WORTH saying, you'd put up your own picture and page instead of trying to tear somebody else's down. As of this morning, we're up to 6,712 likes and 6,904 followers. If you're intent on starting something, you'll find it pretty quickly here. In a way you should've been talked to a LONG time ago, and not just by me. We're a family here, with ALL the dynamics thereof. Our purpose is the continued discussions about solutions to serious problems we face today. We research things, and extend possible solutions for discussion. We're trying to HELP things, not tear down or denigrate things. We're more about healthy debate than arguments. We're mostly unaffiliated politically, whether registered as such or not in today's world. Reforms are needed EVERYWHERE in MANY things, but reform just for reform's sake is insanity. We DO believe in the Constitution. We all know vigilance is required in these perilous times where everybody is being promised everything if they eliminate whatever they're told to. Not just boycott, but destroy and cancel permanently. I'm starting to get deeper than I wanted today. I sent Sherlock Squirrel to Cesspool, D.C. the day the SCOTUS commission was announced, and he'll be back tonight to brief me. He's the only one who can penetrate the fences, wire, and troops right now. I'll be covering all of THAT tomorrow. Things are really getting dicier than ever before in our nation's history, and having a group like this is a real blessing. We all get strength from each other. Again, congratulations. Y'all rock.
