Isaiah 40:22 It is he that... stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them like a tent to dwell in. Caught onto something while studying ancient Hebrew culture. It brought context to a verse in Isaiah that I read tonight. The design of ancient Hebrew tents (which Bedouins still live in) were made of woven black or brown goats hair and when sitting inside, the tent was very dark but pin holes of light can be seen coming through the fibers of the tent and looks like stars in a night's sky. When it rained the hair fibers swelled and sealed the tent. The pin holes of light would disappear like when clouds come and block the view of stars. So when ancient Hebrews looked up at the night sky, he saw Yahs tent over him the same way he saw his physical tent hover and protect his family. ? That's why he made that comparison between his tent and the Shamayims (heavens). The perception they had of the world was so different from us. Simple, beautiful, concrete.
