Admin Jim. For many years both the CC and I have been warning of the similarities between the Borg and a certain political party, including their mantra "YOU WILL BE ASSIMILATED". Yet, the warning fell on deaf ears. Instead of each of us doing a little bit, most sat back and said "yeah, yeah, go get em' "!!!! Now we are left with what the lemmings wanted : a gimme state, where if they act like a 2yo throwing a hissy fit, they get whatever they want. The other day, the CC, Mrs. CC, and I were talking about all of this, when they apologized to me for raising me right. With morals and integrity. They said that in this new age they should have raised me more along the lines of lie, cheat, and steal, as that's where we seem to be headed. Needles to say, that really rocked me. I spent the rest of the night thinking about it, as well as another conversations we had had about how the legal system picks and chooses what's right and wrong depending on who you are and how much power you have. So how can you sit on a jury and convict average Joe, when certain people who shall not be named can walk free despite mountains of evidence ?In retrospect, I was on the wrong side of that argument. I said that the rule of law must start somewhere because without any law and order we are looking at civilizational collapse, and we will devolve into something reminiscent of the Mad Max trilogy. Then Dad said something that has stuck with me too : "who says we haven't already "? I looked at Mad Max again thinking he can't be right, he's my Dad. "The series follows the adventures of Max Rockatansky, a police officer in a future Australia which is experiencing societal collapse due to war and critical resource shortages".My first reaction was this ain't Australia, we ain't at war, and we don't have any critical resource shortages. But the more I thought about it, and read about civilizational collapsealong with the news, I came to the realization we ARE !Right now, in Texas, people are scrounging for food, water and fuel, just like the movie albeit not with the amount of violence or barbarity ; at least not yet. Everything froze up, because people were too focused on fighting to care that a storm was coming. Some meteorologists knew it was coming for weeks, but nobody wanted to break in on the political fighting to warn people. Once again, Dad was right. While we don't have the Australian outback as a backdrop, or Max's Falcon interceptor, if we ain't careful we will have that dystopian society. Just look at the photo if you don't believe me ! Fencing and armed National Guard around the people's capitol to keep the people out.....
