My alma mater has lost its damned mind (awhile ago, but they make it ever more clear with these insane email updates).Shirley Ann Jackson, enough students already kill themselves at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute every normal year. These rules and lockdowns will only increase the suicide rate.On campus? Quarantine, get tested for COVID twice weekly, because 30 other people who are also quarantining have the sniffles.Off campus and only taking remote courses? Quarantine anyway, because 30 other people who are also quarantining, and who are miles upon miles away, have the sniffles.Of campus, only taking remote courses, while within 25 miles of the campus? Quarantine, and get tested for COVID twice weekly anyway, because 30 other people who are also quarantining, who tou never interact with have the sniffles.How do we know these 30 people have the virus? Severe symptoms? No not at all, we are testing everyone twice a week regardless of how they feel!A renowned engineering school is suggesting it is somehow "following science" to have remote students, anywhere in the world, quarantine based on the number of cases on a campus they never attend, while the sick are already also quarantined...By the way, what is the death rate for the age groups involved?
