Scattering used coffee grounds instead of salt and sand is a great way to fight slippery roads AND cut food waste! Icy sidewalks in Lviv, Ukraine are being coated with brewed coffee grounds donated by local cafes, making good use of tons of grounds that would otherwise go directly in the bin. The coffee grounds have abrasive properties suitable for fighting frozen streets, and it also improves soil quality after the ice has melted. Unlike road salt, it protects dogs' paws and needs no collection after use! Less strain on the environment and preserves natural resources. We're here for it!

Wouldn't this end up in the sewers and then into the drinking water?
