When the fiasco hearings began yesterday, I went outside to talk with "The Guys" (67*!) I hollered for George, and eventually heard some squeaking and pinging. Then, he appeared like this and sat in front of my chair. "Why the armour, George ?" "Because I'm smart." "What do you know that I don't?" "It's coming." "Say WHAT ? What's coming?" "Y'all." "Look. We sit on your roofs. We look in your windows. We can listen to everything that goes on. We see/hear your TV. We hear your discussions. We KNOW where this is all heading, and we're just preparing for the inevitable. We're not as dumb as you think we are." "C'mon, lil feller. You're not as smart as WE are !" "Really? Y'all go to work every day to make money. You use that to buy food others have worked to gather. You're constantly using loud machines to make your work easier, faster, and save time. Time spent away from home. Time to make more money so you can pay it to interlopers that squander it on others who don't work. People you never see in person. You're constantly on the run, yet never happy. Even your dogs half heartedly chase us. You call that smart?" "Hmmmm....." "We gather our own food, which costs us nothing. We procreate after boisterously frolicking around in the trees. We can go anywhere at any time. We can run faster than snakes, and we outsmart the ones who climb our trees. Hordes of us gather to protect a nest with babies in it, we don't kill them. If we're not happy where we are, we simply move on. We have no need for money. Our efforts to provide for ourselves and our family are rewarded by luxuriating in the benefits. We owe nobody anything. We scamper, frolick, and play when we want. Then, we look at y'all, who's only backup plan is US. You ought to be smart enough to understand the reasons for getting prepared. Smart? Yeah, so smart you've outthought your own great society that amazed the world, yet you're already talking about " tree rats" becoming your backup food staple. We're smart enough to prepare, and watch. Should y'all implode, we'll be here to pick up the pieces. Should you come after us, we're prepared to defend ourselves. We also have the luxury of speed and seeing you coming. Starting to figure out who's smart and who's stupid yet? " "Let me ask you a question. Is it too late to join the United Squirrels of America?
