Congratulations ! To those of you that continue to hang in there on FB, kudos! Yeah, I'm JUST like y'all. Some days it makes me wanna cuss and kick the dog. Alas, however, it's not FB that's doing most of it. Yeah, their fact checkers and missing context flags can really get to you, and getting thrown in jail without recourse or facing your accuser is maddening, but the main problem is with the mightier than thou types that lurk in the shadows making our lives as miserable as possible because we believe differently than they do. I unfriend those types, and anybody who doesn't acknowledge I've got a right to my opinion. I scroll past idiocracy, because I know my snide comment won't change their beliefs and I'll just wind up in FB jail. It's just like trying to teach a pig to sing. Wastes a LOT of time and really annoys the pig. You DO become who you associate with, and permitting people who walk all over you while disrespecting your right to your own opinion can make this platform a very maddening place. Unfriend, and unfollow the groups/pages that irritate you. What then? GLAD YOU ASKED ! Go into your profile page. Select pages. Then, select "create page" and DO IT ! Name yourself what you want. Put the curseword filter on, which eliminates 98% of the trolls. List your objectives. List any rules you might have. Then, look before you leap. Every time you think about something, jot it down. When you're getting bored or aggravated, search the topics and find out the truth. Just like the debate team in high school, learn everything you can about a subject before you write it. Proof read it through a skeptic's eyes. If it's your opinion, own up to that and say so. Stay opaque with people. Regularly spend time in introspection and checking yourself up from the neck up. You're NOT alone out there, there's a lot of people, especially now, looking for like minded people who want meaningful adult conversations about the future. You, too, will garner individuals from all races, occupations, and sections of our society. More honest and supportive than family. People you CAN'T walk away from. REAL people. In the beginning, you may only want to post once a week. You'll eventually realise you want to talk with your new found friends more often. You don't have a lot of time to get aggravated by the ignorance of others. You'll only utilize your news feed to give you ideas about more topics to research. You'll find out who checks the validity of their posts and who doesn't. You'll learn how you can ruin your own credibility by being one of them. If you comment on somebody else's page and get thrown in jail, BOTH pages are clamped. It's only happened to me once for 24 hours for listing a funny picture in my other private group. I live and let live, insuring I have the moral high ground to expect it from others. If you DO do this, please message me and let me know if I can help. I may even help promote your page. THIS is the answer to "But what can I do". You've got a story, and you've lived a life that someone can relate to. If you can reach but one, you've made a difference. You're simply relating to others in a different way, the principles remain the same. You CAN and SHOULD do it. As Teddy Roosevelt said," Do what you can ,with what you have , where you are". Argue with THAT! You'll sound like Moses talking to the burning bush!
