The west seems to want a diplomatic solution because they already have it all figured out. Even their sheeple don't want to eat that crap in the media anymore after the last performance of the cocaine clown.
It's hard to accept surrender under Russian conditions, but the alternative is worse. Russia will take all of Novorussia and force the rest of Ukraine to sign an unconditional surrender, and the west will not even be invited to talks about the post-war arrangement of Ukraine.
