Yesterday, I achieved a new personal record with my average pace with running. My average pace was around a 10:30 minute mile. Now, my goal is to get it down below a minute mile. I also ran the 5k (3 miles) in about 32 minutes. I want to get it below 30 minutes. Reaching my goals with running, really helps me mentally.
Another goal that I have, is that I want to learn to skydive, or at least do a tandem with an instructor. I really believe that it will so so much for me mentally. The thing is, I cannot find a DZ, (drop zone) that will allow me to go through training to learn to skydive on my own. The ones that I have found, have age limits for the training. with tandems, there are no age limits that I am aware of. I am going to keep looking. I watch skydiving videos, and the skydivers always give each other fist bumps and stuff before they jump. I take it as encouragement. It is like, ,"Alright, have a nice jump." That puts a smile on my face. I will say that with the age limit, I am not a big fan of it. Age is just a number. I hate that people assume that an older person can't do things like skydiving. I understand why they have the age limits in place though, but it should be case by case. The way I am looking at is this: You say that I cannot do it, so I am going to go and do it. That is how much better I have gotten mentally. Before I lacked so much confidence, and felt inferior to everyone else. That is changing.
