Mom cooking up a storm making sure everyone had a dish they liked. Everyone making a special dish and or dessert we would all enjoy together as a family. . Sitting around the tree reading the story of the Birth of Jesus and singing beautiful Christmas songs was the best. Always inviting guests who had nowhere to go to join us and welcoming them into the family. Mom and Dad taught us that although we didn't have a lot, there were others who had way less than we did and therefore it was right to offer others food and give them gifts because it's what Christ would do. We were taught to never take anyone for granted because tomorrow wasn't promised to anyone. Our Christmases were special indeed.
This year the Portalatin Christmas will be most definitely different for sure. Covid and its restrictions have had an impact on our gathering, but one thing for sure is that our love for one another hasn't changed. Our traditions will remain---only from a distance. Not to mention the big hole in our hearts now that mom, (grandma, great-grandma), has gone home. Christmas will never be the same for a long long while. It's a reminder that we should never take anyone for granted or assume that they'll be here forever. I did believe my mom would be around till Jesus comes, but I was wrong. Losing both parents is a hard pill to swallow and most Holidays are difficult. I know that in time God will make things easier.
While our family continues to grow with the birth of our gorgeous little Noah Abraham Moreau, we are excited for Judy and Cory. Can't wait to meet my great-nephew.
Wedding bells will be ringing soon for my Jessica and Daniel. We as a family are surely growing.
Putting a little presentation of our past Christmas celebrations and family gatherings helped me to smile and thank God for what I still have. Although these next couple of days will be a bit difficult for me, I find comfort in knowing that mom and dad have been given the greatest gift of all--to be face to face with Jesus, our Savior.
On behalf of the Portalatin Family-- We want to wish everyone a safe, blessed, and Merry Christmas and an amazing New Year.

This is a new day, with new challenges, new blessings, new opportunities to bless others, new doors God will open, and new ways to continue to draw closer to God.
Use your gift of life to be a gift to others who are hurting, grieving the loss of a loved one, who are having financial problems, who are sick and need a touch from Heaven and those who need a word of encouragement. Won't you be that miracle that happens to them today? Won't you be the one who leads by example and not so much by words? Actions speak louder than words. Show Jesus off today--Make the difference in someone's life. Dare to be different for Christ.
Have a wonderful, safe, productive, and Blessed day.

Isn't it a blessing that God gifted us another day of life? So many didn't wake up and others are not well. Let's not forget to pray for those who are hurting physically and emotionally. Show God's love by being a blessing. Maybe someone is in need of a cup of coffee, tea, hot cocoa, a bottle of water, a smile or an "I'm praying for you" encouragement. That prompting in your heart means God is leading you to bless someone.
Use the gift of life to be a gift to others.
