12/21/2020 - Just finished "One for the Blackbird, One for the Crow" by Olivia Hawker.
What an amazing read! It's not just a novel about living and surviving through the rough and harsh winters on the Wyoming frontier. I found it very spiritually rich, and I loved, even needed, to hear her take on the value of all life and how it is so connected from one living thing to another, even unto death, and this just in time.
I lost my best furry friend in life, a black lab, Beaux, just two months ago, on 10-10-2020. And after 15 years of his companionship, I'm still having a hard time and can relate to some of the feelings she writes about in this book. It feels like, as we leave 2020 behind, I will be leaving a piece of me, my life, my heart behind.
Also, what a great way to weave the author's family's history into this historical novel.
